Idea: Give Charities Something Other Than Money
Beyond the obvious monetary donations, nonprofits need stuff — from basics like paper towels to medical supplies to farm equipment. One of my favorite charities even needed a fire truck!
If your favorite organization has a wish list, share it on Facebook. A simple way to spread the word.
To start, here are some to check out and share:
- Best Friends Animal Society – home to over 1,700 animals. Easy idea: send them that unused gift card sitting in your wallet! They are hoping for cards from Costco, Home Depot, Lowes, Petco, Petsmart, Target and Walmart.
- Muttville – jailbreaks senior and special needs rescue dogs. Easy idea: send them your gently used collars and leashes.
- Homeward Bound Golden Retriever Rescue & Sanctuary – rescues and heals displaced, abandoned, and homeless golden retriever and mixes, regardless of their age or health. Easy idea: mail them some stamps.
- Kindness Ranch, a sanctuary for former lab animals. Easy idea: give them an Amazon gift card.
